Youth Pastors Conference History
In 2016, we were excited to host Bill Brown at the 2016 Youth Pastors Conference, with the theme being Character & Long-Term Leadership!
Leadership matters and without a doubt the most significant and lasting aspect of leadership is character. Unfortunately we seem to spend most of our time developing the skills and techniques of leadership at the expense of character. So how does one grow in Christ-like character as we serve the church? Over the 3 days Bill shared with us both from the Scriptures and his experience how character is developed and why it matters.
The conference was a mixture of keynote sessions, and practical workshops on developing character of Youth & Young Adult leaders, as well as opportunities to connect with people from all over NSW & ACT.
We stayed at the Pacific Blue Oaks Resort, which has a 500 metre swimming pool looping through the property, is walking distance from shops, has an onsite restaurant, and is a short drive to the beach.
Bill Brown has been on staff of Syndal Baptist Church for almost 39 years, initially as Youth Pastor and, for the past 29 years as the Church’s Senior Pastor. Due to Bill’s longevity in Ministry, we believe he is a good person to listen to and learn from when it comes to Character in Long-Term Leadership.
Bill was married to Jenny for almost 34 years until she died in August 2009. He has four adult children and 5 grandchildren.
Prior to being a pastor Bill was a Secondary School Maths teacher. He loves sport, especially cricket and AFL, gardening, reading, music and spending time with family and friends.
2016 saw the Youth Pastors Conference at the Pacific Blue Oaks Resort in Salamander Bay.
As an attendee of the YPC, you received complimentary use of Pacific Blue’s 2 swimming pools, tennis courts, and gym. There is also a day spa, and an onsite restaurant/bar used at delegates own cost.
Pacific Blue Resort is found at 265 Sandy Point Road, Salamander Bay NSW 2317
The conference was not catered for; but each room had its own kitchenette. Pacific Blue offered us a conference only Main Meal Special, which you could take advantage of by stating your intent to purchase in the registrations page (alternatively there is a group of shops and supermarkets a short walk from the resort).
Rooms were shared with another delegate, and a person from each room provided a credit card copy at the resort’s reception area for incidentals.
